Prince Harry appears unapologetic in meeting with King Charles
Prince Harry fails to get perfect nod from King Charles
Prince Harry's 50-minute meeting with King Charles apparently failed to mend his strained relationship with his father, with the Duke reportedly expressing no regrets about his past actions.
It emerges amid reports that the 76-year-old decided to grant the Duke of Sussex a half-in, half-out royal deal after their face-to-face meeting at Clarence House on September 10.
However, a royal insider has claimed "the years-long rift still continues."
"Their wounds are still raw, needing more time and remedy to heal properly," according to the royal insider.
"Much more needs to be addressed from both sides as years long rift can not be ended in just an hour, The Duke remained unapologetic and unbroken during the meeting, contrary to the monarch's expectations of him showing remorse," they added.
There have been reports that the meeting was such a success that the king agreed to allow his youngest son to do the half-in, half-out deal that he and Meghan initially requested when they stepped down in 2020.
A separate source told Daily Mail: “The king is a forgiving man but has been absolutely clear in upholding his late mother’s decision that there cannot be ‘half-in, half-out’ members of the working royal family.”
Harry really needs to make more efforts to rebuild bridges, paving the way for his potential return to the royal circle. Otherwise, his brief conversation with King Charles doesn't necessarily indicate everything is resolved between the Sussexes and the royal family.
However, Harry-Charles first face-to-face encounter in nearly two years sparked hopes of reconciliation.
