Kensington Palace releases Prince William, Kate moving video message

The Prince and Princess of Wales issued an update after the couple undertook an emotional engagement on Tuesday.

Kensington Palace shared a video message from Prince William and Kate Middleton, to shift the public’s focus on important matters amid royal family’s new setback.

William and Kate had returned to Southport in an unannounced visit to spend time with the children, teachers and families over a year after the tragic knife attacks in July 2024.

Three girls — Bebe King, 6, Elsie Dot Stancombe, 7, and Alice Dasilva Aguiar, 9 — were killed in the unfortunate incident. William and Kate had visited just weeks later, which also happened to be the Princess’s first appearance after ending cancer treatment.

The video showed highlights from the visit as the royal couple expressed their continued support to the community. The couple was shown around a playground that has been created to remember and honour the girls.

“To everyone in the Southport community affected by the incident last year, you will never be forgotten – and the legacy of love and kindness built here will continue to bring people together for years to come and honour the memories of Bebe, Alice and Elsie,” the statement read alongside the video.

Prince William also made a speech during the event and noted that the tragedy remains “difficult to comprehend”.

“Many lives were changed on that terrible day – including countless members of this school community. Bebe, Alice and Elsie’s friends and classmates have come together to support each other and remember the girls in their own way,” he said.
