Reese Witherspoon drops major hints about 'Legally Blonde' prequel
Reese Witherspoon revealed a 'Legally Blonde' prequel will explore Elle Woods’ teenage years
Reese Witherspoon opened up about the future of the Legally Blonde franchise and confirmed that a prequel series was on the way.
While promoting the new season of The Morning Show with Jennifer Aniston, she spoke to E News and teased what fans could expect from the upcoming series called Elle.
The project was being made for Amazon Prime Video and focused on Elle Woods’ teenage years before she became a law student at Harvard.
Witherspoon explained that the prequel was designed to show how Elle grew into the confident and determined woman who won audiences in the original 2001 film.
She, however, described the story as a chance to reveal the moments that shaped Elle’s personality and her love for fashion and justice.
“People want to know where Elle came from, how she found her confidence, and what shaped her before law school,” Witherspoon said.
The star promised fans the same charm, humour and energy that turned the first movie into a classic.
The 49-year-old icon was not only starring in the franchise but also serving as executive producer on the prequel to ensure it stayed true to Elle’s spirit.
She added that the series would surprise audiences with new details about the beloved character while keeping the style and heart that made the films successful.
The Legally Blonde universe already included two movies and a Broadway musical.
Talks about a third film continued for years but Witherspoon confirmed that the prequel was the focus.
