Queen Mary blooms in florals at Carlsberg Foundation’s Research Awards
Queen Mary presented honour to Claes Holger de Vreese
Queen Mary of Denmark lit up Copenhagen on Wednesday evening, arriving in a black printed outfit for the Carlsberg Foundation’s prestigious Research Awards at Glyptoteket.
Mary elevated the look with classic Gianvito Rossi pumps and a sleek Sergio Rossi clutch with a touch of sparkle from her Cartier watch and a stack of bracelets by Danish jewelers Dulong Fine Jewelry and Rebekka Notkin.
The annual award celebrates groundbreaking achievements across the natural sciences as well as the humanities and social sciences perfectly suited to Mary’s trademark blend of poise and purpose.
Glyptoteket provided the backdrop for a night celebrating world class scholarship.
Professor Klaus Mølmer was honoured for his pioneering work in theoretical quantum optics and mechanics, while Professor Claes Holger de Vreese was recognized for his internationally acclaimed research on how algorithms and artificial intelligence shape modern democratic processes.
Each year, the foundation shines a spotlight on academic excellence by presenting two prestigious research prizes.
One in the natural sciences and another in the humanities or social sciences. The honours, awarded on the recommendation of an international expert committee, recognize scholars whose work has made a profound impact on basic research.
Until recently, each prize carried a purse of DKK 1,000,000, with DKK 250,000 given as a personal honorarium and the remainder dedicated to advancing a new research project.
In 2024, the Foundation raised the bar, underlining its commitment to fueling innovation and rewarding the brilliant minds shaping our understanding of the world.
