Queen Camilla shared a touching moment with troops during a visit to the 4th Battalion of The Ranger Regiment, where she was presented with a silver brooch as a token of appreciation.

Arriving at the barracks in a stone trench coat over a cream pinstriped dress, the Queen was warmly welcomed with a salute before meeting soldiers and their families.

Inside, she was handed the silver Mappin and Webb brooch by Lieutenant Colonel Charles Bairsto, who explained it was a symbol of the regiment she represents. Smiling as she accepted the gift, Camilla said, “It’s so lovely, I’ll go and put it on.”

Her visit marked the launch of the Peregrine Fund, a new welfare initiative offering financial and pastoral support for personnel and their families during overseas deployments.

Camilla, 78, also toured the barracks, learning about military vehicles and speaking with troops who had recently served in Jordan and Lebanon. At one point, she told a soldier, “You’re so lucky, I’ve always wanted to go to Lebanon.”

The day ended with the Queen presenting medals to three servicemen, praising their commitment and taking time to thank their families for the sacrifices they continue to make.
