Kate Middleton has gone through a major transition in the past couple of years, whether it was her upgrade to Princess of Wales or her unexpected battle with cancer last year.
Buckingham Palace is already preparing Prince William and Kate to take the crown at a “moment's notice”. Amid this planning, Palace staffers have seen a rare glimpse of Kate in action as the future Queen.
“She’s very sweet, she’s very easy going,” King Charles’s former butler, Grant Harrold told The Mirror.
“What you see is what you get with her, she has a lovely way about her,” he said. “She’s a nice girl, she is also a bit of a joker as well, she's got a sense of humour. It's a royal cavalcade with her. She's pretty easy going, she’s just got a little bit about her.”
William has often expressed that he would have a more informal approach during his reign and focus on charitable work over pageantry.
Grant pointed out that Kate “never saw herself better than anyone else” despite her power - a key trait for a humble and relatable monarch.
This also appears to be an approach similar to her late mother-in-law, Princess Diana. She was known as the ‘Queen of Hearts’ for her humble nature.
Grant shared that the current Princess of Wales truly showed what she was like when she came to Highgrove House.
“When she used to arrive, she'd come in the kitchen and have a catch up with us,” he said.
“She would go into the house, but she'd come in and see us first and then go into the house, which I thought was quite nice.”
The former staffer praised Kate's “down to earth” persona which would end up being a very crucial trait for when she takes the crown.
