Prince Harry suffers major loss as he heads to UK
Prince Harry receives upsetting update as he says goodbye to key member
Prince Harry faced a major setback just days before he was to arrive in the UK to attend an important charity event and a much-anticipated reunion with his father King Charles.
The Prince had confirmed last week that he will be arriving in the UK for the event which also coincides with the third death anniversary of his grandmother.
The Duke of Sussex founded Travalyst – an independent not-for-profit organisation dedicated to changing the way the world travels – in 2019. It partners with travellers and travel companies to give them more sustainable options for travel and relevant information.
However, it had been just a few months when the first chairman of the ‘eco’ firm Travalyst quit. After serving for only a year-and-a-half in the role, the chief executive, Sally Davey, handed in her notice as well.
Davey had informed Prince Harry that she will step down in December and officially released a statement on the company’s website.
She said that it was an “incredible honour” to work with people who are passionate about shaping a more sustainable future for the tourism industry and the planet.
“I haven’t taken this choice lightly; however, it is a positive one and the right one for me and my family at this time,” she said. “I’m delighted to leave on such a high note, and happy to be with the organisation until December. The work continues, and what important work it is. I can’t wait to see what Travalyst does next.”
According to royal correspondent Richard Eden, this is a massive setback for Harry. “This is a huge blow to Travalyst,’ a source said. “Sally has been crucial in its development.”
The resignation also comes after Meghan and harry faced accusations of hypocrisy because of their use of gas-guzzling private jets.
However, Harry only had words of praises for Davey.
“I am so grateful to Sally for her commitment and drive over the last five years, which has grown Travalyst’s impact and sparked real change across the travel industry,” Harry said in a statement.
“As this hugely successful chapter closes, we’re excited for the next – welcoming new leadership to accelerate our mission and deepen our impact. Tourism must create more opportunities for the communities it touches, and that work can’t wait.”
He continued, “I remain as committed to this cause now as I was when I founded Travalyst six years ago, and I know Sally’s successor will help deliver the systemic change we all need, alongside our Board and committed partners.”
