Jameela Jamil slams Serena Williams for controversial remarks

Jameela Jamil openly criticized Serena Williams after the tennis star revealed she used GLP 1 medication to lose weight.

Williams, 42, recently told People magazine that she dropped more than 31 pounds with the help of the drug, explaining that she carefully researched it before starting. “I did a lot of research on it,” Williams said.

"I asked what the benefits and drawbacks were, and the doctors were super supportive. It was easy to get the medication, and I was excited about my results.”

Her statement quickly sparked reactions online and among the loudest voices was actor and activist Jameela Jamil, who shared her thoughts on Instagram, said she felt uneasy about celebrities promoting treatments that most people cannot easily access.

The actress said," The thing I feel most uncomfortable about here is that celebrities have access to doctors most others don’t have access to."

She wrote. “These ‘miracle’ weight loss drugs come at a price.”

Jamil also raised concerns about the possible health risks linked to GLP 1 medications, as she mentioned serious side effects such as pancreatitis, gastrointestinal paralysis, osteoporosis, muscle loss, thyroid issues and most importantly depression.

However, the star further warned that once people stop taking the drug, the weight often comes back quickly and can be even harder to manage.

She added, “Without constant monitoring, blood tests, scans, nutritionists, and a proper weight training plan, most people cannot maintain long term health while using these drugs. Celebrities can afford these resources, but the average person cannot.”

The clash between Serena Williams and Jameela Jamil has set off a wider debate about weight loss culture and health awareness in Hollywood.
