Chad Michael Murray reflects on his teenage health scare
Chad Michael Murray talks about why he likes being actor
Chad Michael Murray recalled that one time when he had a close shave with death during his teenage years.
The One Tree Hill star appeared on the podcast, Great Company Friday, August 8 during which he shared the details of the scary time.
“I was 1 and my intestines had twisted,” said the 43-year-old.
“I was hospitalized for two and a half months. It was a lot.”
Murray continued, “We had surgery. I had internal bleeding, [and] I lost 50 percent of my blood. I was on my deathbed.”
He further narrated that he doesn’t recall much because he was ‘in and out of consciousness’ but he remembers his father being the weakest he has ever seen him, and a priest standing at the end of the bed discussing Murray’s final rites with his father.
The nurse did the blood transfusion that saved his life.
The star still spent two months in the hospital with his organs shutting down followed by having a second surgery.
A silver lining came amid all the turmoil: His main nurses became the reason he entered Hollywood.
“Alana says to me, ‘Oh gosh, you should model,’” he narrated.
“I was like, ‘I don’t want to model. I want to be an actor. Like, I love film and television. I want to give this gift to other people.’ She’s like, ‘Well, you can segue from modeling into acting. Look, when you get out, I’m hooking you up with a modeling company I know.’ And she meant it.”
For the unversed, Murray’s starrer Freakier Friday released in US August 8.
