Former circus artist Krysten Kaulis living with his alligator goes viral
The reptile usually lives 30 to 50 years in the wild
Krysten Kaulis, former circus member, is going viral on social media because of his unusual pet - an alligator.
It has been revealed that Kaulis grew up with an alligator named Frau Meyer.
According to The Washington Post, Kaulis’s father, a circus artist from Germany, brought the alligator more than 40 years ago.
It has been revealed that the alligator, with whom the artist swims and cuddles, was part of the family circus acts until 2016.
The reptile usually lives 30 to 50 years in the wild, however, in favourable conditions it can live up to 100 years.
Kaulis plans to take care of his pet in case his father no longer can. Despite the dangers associated with living with the animal, the artist says he trusts the alligator.
He said, “I respect her boundaries. And I think that’s very important.”
Kaulis isn’t the only one who has chosen to keep a dangerous animal as his pet as social media is filled with videos of people keeping tigers, snakes, wolves, and even crocodiles in their homes.
Though the owners claim to have deep bonds with their wild pets, animal welfare experts warn that such relationships can be risky both for the human and the animal.
