Ozzy Osbourne's legacy to be honoured in powerful BBC documentary
Ozzy Osbourne's documentary set to show how the legend battled Parkinson's disease while preparing for his final performance
The BBC is bringing fans a powerful new documentary that will celebrate the life and legacy of Ozzy Osbourne, the legendary Black Sabbath frontman who passed away last month at the age of 76.
Titled Ozzy Osbourne Coming Home, the one-hour film will follow the rock icon and his wife Sharon as they planned to return to UK after years of living in the United States.
The documentary will also show how Ozzy bravely battled Parkinson's disease while trying to prepare for one final performance. That dream came true when he joined his bandmates on stage in Birmingham for Black Sabbath’s farewell show.
However, the film offers an emotional and close look at the late legend's family, including his wife and their children Kelly and Jack.
The behind-the-scenes footage and personal moments is set to show how Ozzy’s health struggles affected not only his music but his family life as well.
Originally announced in 2022 as a series called Home to Roost, the project later became a one-hour documentary due to Ozzy’s declining health.
Producers Ben Wicks and Colin Barr described working with the Osbournes as a rare and unforgettable experience they have. They said the film captures the love Ozzy had for his family and his deep desire to perform again.
BBC’s Head of Documentaries Claire Sillery said that the film would offer fans touching and honest view of Ozzy’s final years as she added that the story was full of humorou, love and unforgettable memories.
For the unversed, Ozzy Osbourne Coming Home will premiere on August 18 on BBC One and will also be available to stream on BBC iPlayer.
