Prince William has been enjoying his last days off from royal duties with his wife Princess Kate, but he still took out some time to write a letter of support as an epic home match looms.
As Patron of the Football Association and Duke of Cornwall, William offered words of encouragement to the rising Cornish football team, Truro City FC, as they prepare to face off against York City next week.
Dated August 7 on Kensington Palace’s official letterhead, the letter was written on behalf of the Prince of Wales by his Private Secretary Ian Patrick and addressed to captain Connor Riley-Lowe.
"The Duke of Cornwall has asked me to write ahead of your home match against York on Saturday next week. The Duke knows that you have only just returned home after a few years away, and like everyone else in Cornwall will be cheering you on," it read.
The future king then congratulated the team on becoming Cornwall’s first-ever professional football club.
"Prince William has asked me to pass on his warmest congratulations in getting promoted to the National League as Cornwall's first professional team. This comes with the Duke of Cornwall's very best wishes. Good luck to The Tinners."
The team replied via X, “On behalf of Connor and the club, we thank His Royal Highness for his heartfelt message.”
William is famously loyal to Aston Villa and frequently spotted in the stands with his children, especially Prince George, 12, and Princess Charlotte, 10.
But his latest show of support reflects his role as Duke of Cornwall and his broader interest in growing British football at the grassroots level.
