Bill Hader has recently finally broken silence on skipping SNL’s 50th anniversary earlier this year.
Bill, who was a regular on Saturday Night Live between 2005 and 2013, shared real reason behind his absence on the show in February during an appearance on latest episode of Late Night With Seth Meyers on August 5.
Bill shared that his crippling anxiety prevented him from participating in the primetime special.
The comedian revealed that Andy Samberg called him about an idea for a digital short about how everyone at SNL suffering from anxiety.
At first, he wasn’t sure he wanted to be in the sketch, but when Andy asked why, Bill replied, “Because I’m anxious!”
Interestingly, Bowen Yang played the part Adam had conceived for Bill and “he was great,” said the Superbad actor.
“I was really shaky and everything. I was really anxious,” admitted the 47-year-old of his time on the NBC sketch comedy show.
During the show, Bill mentioned that his mental health affected his presence on the SNL show.
However, the comedian not only suffered from anxiety, he also had shingles.
“I had a back ache and a crazy rash from shingles, an infection which I think should be called fire blisters,” pointed out the Barry star.
Bill further said that he also had migraines, and his vision would even go out, recalling his vision went out on the Christmas during his first season for a sketch with Johnny Knoxville and Neil Young.
“We had to go out there, and I had to hold onto Jason Sudeikis and just try to figure out what my line was,” said the comedian and actor.
Meanwhile, Bill is going to do voiceover for the Cat in the Hat in a 2026 animated reboot.
