Hulk Hogan cause of death confirmed as memorial details emerge
A memorial service for the wrestling legend will be held next week in a church in Tampa, Florida
Hulk Hogan’s cause of death has been revealed as preparations for the wrestling legend’s upcoming memorial service are underway.
The WWE Hall of Famer and 12-time world champion suffered a fatal heart attack, or “acute myocardial infarction,” confirms CNN.
A cremation approval summary report obtained by the outlet revealed that Hogan — born Terry Gene Bollea — had a history of a heart condition known as atrial fibrillation (irregular and rapid heartbeat).
The document also revealed that he had been quietly battling blood cancer (leukemia CLL) for an unknown amount of time.
The cremation request was approved by the Pinellas County Forensic Science Centre in Largo, Florida, on Wednesday, July 30 — a week after his death.
A memorial service will take place on Tuesday, August 5, in a church in Tampa, Florida, US Weekly reports.
Hogan went into cardiac arrest on July 24 while at his home in Clearwater, Florida. After receiving a 911 call from the Hogan residence, emergency responders rushed him to Morton Plant Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
He was 71 years old.
CNN reports that no autopsy or exam was performed, and that Hogan’s death was certified by his primary care physician. The manner of his death was ruled as “natural.”
