Prince William's plan for major royal role for Zara Tindall revealed
Zara Tindall set to take over royal duties as Prince William thinks her to be 'perfect fit'
Prince William is reportedly considering handing control of the royal racehorses to his cousin, Zara Tindall, when he becomes King.
Royal expert Jennie Bond believes Zara is the "perfect fit" for the role, which is close to the heart of many members of the Royal Family.
The late Queen Elizabeth II was a huge racing fan and established a dynasty of successful thoroughbreds during her 70-year reign. Her horses won over 1,600 races, and she was named Champion Owner twice.
The tradition has continued through her daughter, Princess Anne, and granddaughter, Zara, who both share a passion for horses.
Bond welcomed the reports that Zara will one day be given the reins in managing the Royal Family's racing operation.
"There will be so many demands on William's time when he is King that I think it's a brilliant idea – if the reports are to be believed – that he might hand over racing matters to Zara," she said.
"Like her mother, she lives and breathes horses – she's also extremely glamorous and well-liked, and it would be a perfect fit."
Bond also believes that Zara and her husband, Mike Tindall, will become "highly valued" allies of William when he ascends to the throne.
"As the years go by, I think they'll be a highly valued support for William when the time comes for him to be King. They are both very close to William, and if he calls on them again, they will definitely agree," Bond said.
Both Zara and her mother, Princess Anne, have found success in the saddle themselves. Anne was a world-class equestrian and won many ribbons in her sporting career, including competing in the Olympics.
Zara continued her mother's equestrian legacy, winning a silver medal for Team GB at the 2012 Olympics in London.
