King Charles' office issues update on key royal after Charlotte snub
Buckingham Palace released newest video about key royal figure
Buckingham Palace has released update on Prince Edward's latest royal engagement after omitting Princess Charlotte from royal record.
The Duke of Edinburgh took on an important royal duty as he visited a historic site to celebrate Charles Darwin’s iconic voyage.
The royal family shared the stunning video of Duchess Sophie's husband on their official website along with a statement on Wednesday.
The video, which offers a rare glimpse of Prince Edward's growing presence in King Charles' slimmed-down monarchy, was accompanied with a statement.
The Palace wrote: "Celebrating the incredible voyage of @Darwin200_ !"
It added: "Last week, The Duke of Edinburgh toured the 107-year-old ship Oosterschelde. This ship has just completed a two year journey, re-tracing Charles Darwin’s route that was made two centuries ago on HMS Beagle."
The statement, which comes days after Princess Charlotte was omitted the court circular records during overseas trip with Prince William, continued: "The Duke met young conservationists and the crew to hear more about their voyage and experiences."
It concluded: "105 young conservationists were selected from 45 countries all over the world and they had opportunity to join part of the voyage. They were selected due to their lifetime passion for nature conservation and their efforts to protect and restore the planet."
Charlotte and William visited to Switzerland last week to cheer on the Lionesses in their Euros triumph over Spain. The 10-year-old's presence was a royal first as she enjoyed her first football game overseas and issued an unprecedented joint statement with the Prince of Wales.
Eagle eyed royal fans were quick to spot the young princess had been omitted from the court circular, which is the royal family’s official record of their various engagements.
