Prince Harry, Meghan Markle call neighbour Oprah for an Easter emergency
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are next-door neighbours to the 'Oprah Winfrey Show' star
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle may have lost their royal privileges when they moved to the U.S. in 2020, but they gained a powerful new ally: Oprah Winfrey.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex live right next door to the Oprah Winfrey Show star in the Montecito neighbourhood of California, Los Angeles, with their two children Prince Archie, 6, and Princess Lilibet, 4. So naturally, they rang her up for help when faced with an unprecedented emergency over Easter this year.
Appearing on Kelly Ripa’s podcast Let's Talk Off Camera this week, the 71-year-old talk show host revealed that she got a call from Harry on Easter Saturday about an unusual situation unfolding in their backyard.
“I get a call from Harry, Prince Harry, on Easter Saturday, and he says, ‘Sorry to bother you, O, but we have a duck problem here,’” she said, mimicking his accent.
A duck had laid eggs and hatched chicks near their home, but without a pond, the Sussexes needed to relocate the new family.
“‘Our pond is a stream, we don’t have a pond, so can we bring the ducks over to your pond?’” Harry asked, to which Oprah agreed.
After a chaotic few moments of trying to round them up, the fowl family got their happy ending.
Meghan shared the heartwarming moment on her Instagram at the time. In the video, the former Suits actress watched in shock as the ducklings followed their mother across the pavement.
“Wishing you a happy Easter full of love… and surprises!” she captioned the post.
