Wimbledon welcomes Queen as she honours long standing team members
Queen Camilla's visit also included a meeting with tennis icon Novak Djokovic
The Queen made a notable appearance at Wimbledon today, where she met with several long-serving staff members whose dedication helps uphold the prestige of the world-famous tennis tournament.
Among those introduced to Her Majesty was Will Brierley, the head groundskeeper, who had devoted over 20 years to the All England CLub, expertly maintaining the Championship Courts to the highest standards.
She also met Robin Murphy, the venue's lead gardener, who recently marked two decades of service. Murphy has been diligently tending to Wimbledon's 50,000-plus plants, working through the recent heatwave to ensure the grounds remain immaculate.
Another introduction included Malin Lundin, collections manager at the Club for the past 12 years. Lundin has played a key role in curating heritage exhibitions that honour Wimbledon's rich legacy and welcome both players and spectators.
Following these engagements, the Queen is set to take her place on Centre Court this afternoon to enjoy the day's matches.
Her visit also included a meeting with tennis icon Novak Djokovic, who is preparing to face rising Italian star Flavio Cobolli in his upcoming match. Cobolli advanced to the next round after an impressive victory over Marin Cilic.
Reflecting on the opportunity, Cobolli said: 'It will be on one of the biggest stages in the world, this is the best court in the world,' he said.
He also expressed deep admiration for Djokovic, saying: 'He's my greatest idol. I honestly do not know how I'll feel standing across the net from him-he's been inspiration for as long as I can remember.'
