Sir David Beckham returns to Royal Box following knighthood
The two former England footballers make Royal Box debut today
Sir David Beckham and Sir Gareth Southgate received new honour since receiving their knighthoods.
The two former England footballers make Royal Box debut today, as they took their seats on Centre Court to watch the opening round match between Italy's Fabrio Fognini and Spain's Carlos Alcaraz.
Their attendance at the All England Club highlights a new privilege that comes with the recent honours granted upon them for their contributions to football.
To note, Beckham's visit to SW19 comes just two days after witnessing his Inter Miami side suffer a 4-0 defeat to Paris Saint-Germain in the Club World Cups' round of 16.
It is worth mentioning that both of the legends have recently been recognised for their remarkable services to the sport. Sir Gareth was knighted by the Prince of Wales at Windsor Castle last Wednesday, calling it an 'amazing honour' and admitting he felt 'more emotional than I thought I might be.
Other notable royal figures have also been spotted at the Wimbledon. Sarah Ferguson stunned onlookers with surprise Wimbledon appearance after 24 year hiatus.
The Duchess of York appeared in great spirits along with her stylish daughter Princess Beatrice at Wimbledon's opening day today, marking the first visit to the tournament since 2001.
The Royal Box today hosts a star-studded guest list, including football icon David Beckham, actor Eddie Redmayne, and author Richard Osman.
Also among the day's high-profile attendees are singer Ronan Keating and Harry Potter star Jason Isaacs.
