Prince William and Kate face health alert

Princess Kate and Prince William have been alerted to a growing health concern near their Windsor home, as a potentially dangerous insect infestation spreads across the grounds of Windsor Great Park.
The sprawling 4,800-acre estate, which borders the couple’s residence at Adelaide Cottage, has seen a rise in oak processionary moth (OPM) caterpillars an invasive species that poses particular risks during the summer months.
The Windsor Great Park website issued a public warning, "The hairs of the OPM caterpillars are a defence mechanism containing a chemical that, when touched, can cause skin rashes, eye irritations and respiratory problems in humans and animals."
The invasive caterpillars, first introduced to Britain in 2005 and identified in the royal park in 2018, are currently in their most active and hazardous phase.
From May to July, the insects release toxic hairs that can trigger skin rashes, eye irritation, and even respiratory issues in both humans and animals.
With the summer holidays approaching and the royal children known for their love of nature and outdoor play, the timing of the infestation is particularly worrying.
Pet owners have also been advised to keep dogs on leads, as the hairs can be harmful if inhaled or ingested.
The warning is a significant concern for Prince William and Princess Kate, whose lifestyle at Adelaide Cottage centres around family life in nature.
