Prince William's 43rd birthday photo sparks strong reaction from animal rights activist
Prince William and Kate Middleton seem to be settling down the latest controversy which came to light after the future King's birthday photo.
For the unversed, on June 21, the Princess of Wales and the royal children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis sent a special message to their 'papa' on his 43rd birthday.
The photo shared on his big day featured the Prince of Wales playing with the adorable puppies of the Waleses' dog Orla.
"Happy birthday! Love C, G, C, L, Orla and the puppies!" the message reads.
However, the picture sparked a backlash as Peta Vice President of Programmes Elisa Allen questioned the future King and Queen's choices.
She said, "The Prince and Princess of Wales should know that shelters here and worldwide are overflowing with puppies desperate for a second chance at a loving home, and that churning out a litter in the midst of this animal homelessness crisis is staggeringly out of touch."
William and Kate were told to follow in the footsteps of the senior royal couple, King Charles and Queen Camilla, "who have chosen to adopt from a shelter rather than contribute to the problem."
Now, Dail Mail's royal author Rebecca English revealed the real reason behind their decision to breed at home.
She said, "It's one of the reasons, I am told, that she [Kate] and Prince William have decided to breed from their adored spaniel, Orla."
"Not only has it been something fun for the children to look forward to, but I am told they are planning to keep one of the pups," the royal expert said.
