Princess of Wales follows monarch’s orders before approval for important role
Kate Middleton is known for abiding by royal protocol and is well-versed with all traditions long before she became the Princess of Wales.
However, as the future Queen is taking the next step in her training for the throne, there was a time when Kate became a problem for the future of the monarchy.
It appears that Meghan Markle was not the only one who had to undergo strict scrutiny to be fit to marry a prince. Kate, who married Prince William in 2011, prove to Queen Elizabeth that she could handle royal rules.
The late Queen allegedly felt that there was a ‘Kate problem’ before William had proposed as she notoriously took on her late sister Margaret’s key trait, per royal expert Katie Nicholl.
“If Kate was not with William at Balmoral then the couple were skiing or holidaying on Mustique, the royal author revealed, via The Daily Mail. “Kate was there so often the press dubbed her Queen of Mustique, a title that had previously belonged to Princess Margaret.”
The message did not sit well with public as the UK public was struggling with recession while the royal prince was holidaying.
“Such frivolous displays of wealth were unpalatable to the Queen,” Nicholl explained. “While the rest of the world speculated that an engagement was on the horizon for William and Kate, the Queen believed an announcement should be postponed until Kate was settled in a career.”
A senior aide revealed that the Queen spoke to her “few trusted friends” to deal with the “Kate problem”. The insider said that the matriarch thought that “if Kate is one day going to be William’s consort, then she needs a proper job”.
The late Queen believed in “a modern Monarchy” and “felt very strongly that the Royals should be leading by example”.
When Kate married William, the couple was granted the titles of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge.
