Prince William and Prince George’s shared love for Aston Villa has been hailed as “magical” by football pundit Ally McCoist, who praised the heartwarming bond between the royal father and son.

“What it showed to everybody is just what a big football fan the prince is,” McCoist said.

“It was magical to see just like any dad and his son watching and cheering their favourite team when a goal’s gone in.”

"A wonderful look at the prince probably in an environment that a lot of people, myself included, wouldn't expect to see him," he added.

The Prince of Wales joined the pair for a six minute pre match segment ahead of Aston Villa’s Champions League clash with Paris Saint-Germain in April.

The clip, aired on TNT Sports and shared across their platforms, racked up nearly one million views within 24 hours.

Ferdinand, clearly impressed by the prince’s tactical knowledge, joked on-air: “Can I just say something? Do not go for a punditry job please—because I could be out of a job!”

According to insiders, William’s insights into PSG’s lineup and Villa’s chances were anything but royal fluff.

A TNT source said they were “over the moon with the segment and the incredible reaction,” adding that the broadcaster “would love to have him back.”

A royal source echoed the sentiment, revealing: “Prince William absolutely loved the experience and would 100% be up for doing it again.”

The prince believes, they said, that “the beautiful game has the power to bring communities together.”

William’s deep-rooted passion for Aston Villa runs through his family life, too. All three of his children own Villa shirts, although the he has said he hopes George, Charlotte, and Louis will eventually choose their own teams rather than simply following Dad’s lead.

And in a relatable dad move, William once confessed that he shuffles his kids around the living room during televised matches hoping a change in seating might magically help turn Villa’s luck around.
