Kate's sweet look at William evokes memories of Queen, Prince Philip's romance

A heartwarming exchange between Princess Kate and Prince William at this year's Trooping the Colour has sparked fond memories of a similar moment shared by Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip 16 years ago.

The Royal Family made a grand entry on June 14 to mark a very special occasion-King's official birthday. 

During the historic event, cameras caught Kate, 43, casting a gentle, affectionate glance toward her husband as he passed by on horseback.

The sweet moment reminded royal fans of a touching scene from the 2009 Trooping the Colour, when Queen Elizabeth was photographed lovingly looking at Prince Philip as they rode together in a carriage. 

This striking resemblance between the two royal couples has captured public attention, emphasising the timeless nature of supportive moments within the monarchy. 

The parallels did not end with the exchanged glances. Both Princess Kate and the late Queen Elizabeth were dressed in elegant aqua blue outfits, complete with coordinating hats, adding another layer of similarity to the scenes separated by more than a decade. 

Prince William, 42, took part in the parade as Colonel-in-Chief of the Welsh Guards, wearing the traditional scarlet military tunic and bearskin hat-a role and outfit echoed Prince Philip's appearance at the 2009 event.

Royal commentators have noted the likeness between Kate's understand support of Prince William and Prince Philip's loyal presence at the Queen's side for decades.

'She's never trying to outshine him in any way. I think that Kate is a bit like Prince Philip supporting the Queen. She does not outshine William but still has a lot to say herself,' royal biographer Penny Junor told People. 

Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip enjoyed a marriage lasting 73 years until his death at the age of 99 in April 2021- a bond that remains one of the most enduring in royal history.
