King Charles discovers new passion he truly enjoys
The monarch has been pleasantly surprised by his newfound enthusiasm for the prestigious occasion
King Charles III is set to attend all five days of Royal Ascot this year, accompanied by Queen Camilla, as he embraces a growing passion for the iconic racing event.
According to insider, the monarch has been pleasantly surprised by his newfound enthusiasm for the prestigious occasion.
While King Charles has long supported Royal Ascot in memory of his late mother, Queen Elizabeth II, his current role at the helm of the monarchy has ignited a personal interest in the sport.
'Camilla has been passionate about horse racing for many years but the King has surprised himself by how much he enjoys it,' the source told The Sun.
The Royal couple will observe the races from the Royal Box, where the King will have two horses competing during the festival. This surge in royal racing passion comes as King Charles prepares to miss riding on horseback riding during Trooping the Colour for the second year running.
Due to his ongoing health challenges following his cancer diagnosis, the 76-year-old monarch will instead participate in Saturday's official birthday parade by carriage.
Meanwhile, Princess Anne, is set to make a notable return to the saddle. Nearly a year after suffering head injuries from a horse-related incident, the 74-year-old royal will ride during this weekend's King's Birthday Parade, fulfilling her ceremonial role as Gold Stick and Colonel of the Blues and Royals.
