Kate and William’s castle shaken as intruder sparks Royal security scare
Kate, William and kids were home as Windsor security breach unfolded
A man in his 30s sparked a royal security alert on Sunday after reportedly scaling a wall to gain access to the restricted grounds of Windsor Castle just steps from the home of the Prince and Princess of Wales.
The incident unfolded around lunchtime near the castle’s Town Gate, where the intruder is believed to have been under the influence of drugs.
His presence triggered a swift response from officers with the Metropolitan Police’s Royal and Specialist Protection Command.
He was promptly arrested on suspicion of trespassing on a protected site and possession of Class A drugs.
Officers from the Metropolitan Police’s Royal and Specialist Protection Command spotted and detained the man shortly after he climbed a wall near the castle’s Town Gate.
A spokesperson for Thames Valley Police confirmed to GB News: "At just after 1pm on Sunday (1/6), a man entered restricted grounds at Windsor Castle. He was quickly challenged by Met Police officers and arrested. He did not enter the inner grounds of Windsor Castle."
The suspect was later released on bail as further investigations continue.
The Prince and Princess of Wales were reportedly staying at Adelaide Cottage, their family home on the Windsor estate that day with their children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis.
However, it remains unclear whether they were present at the time of the incident, which took place some distance from their residence.
Police confirmed that the intruder did not enter the inner grounds of Windsor Castle, where key royal landmarks such as St George’s Chapel, the State Apartments, and the Inner Hall are located.
Royal aides and the couple’s close protection officers were notified as a matter of routine.
