Saturday Night Live star Bowen Yang has left fans worried with a telling detail that he might not join the cast next season.
During the finale episode of season 50 on May 17th, Yang seemed taken over by emotions as he hugged castmate Sarah Sherman during the final segment.
Yang also appeared emotional while hugging his other castmates, for what seemed like a final time, as the cast gathered on stage together.
Saddened fans quickly flocked to social media and expressed their concerns with one writing on X, “If Bowen is leaving I won’t be shocked.”
Another added, “Um. is bowen also leaving?????”
“If Bowen’s actually leaving idk how to feel,” a third chimed in. Weighing in on the situation, another added, “On one hand, I will always miss him on the show. On the other hand, he’s had one of the most successful SNL careers of this era and it would be an appropriate time if he wants to pursue other things (we all know how it was with Wicked).”
“It looked like Bowen was having long heartfelt hugs with everyone so he’s my only guess to be leaving. Would explain some of the sketches they did for him [tonight],” noted another.
This comes after Yang hinted at potentially leaving the comedy show at “some point” in his career during an interview with People Magazine last month.
