Prince William, Kate share update after King Charles delays major honour

The Prince and Princess of Wales released an update as the future king fulfilled an important task despite receiving a blow from King Charles.

It was revealed on Saturday that the monarch is delaying a major milestone for William and Kate Middleton. Just hours later, William stepped out for a key engagement in his capacity as the Patron of the Football Association (FA).

Kensington Palace shared a video of William attending the 2025 Emirates FA Cup Final between Crystal Palace and Manchester City at Wembley Stadium in London.

At the event, the prince, who is an avid soccer fan, presented the trophy to the winning team, Crystal Palace, as they earned their first major trophy.

“Congratulations @cpfc on a brilliant FA Cup victory! A historic win and a performance to remember,” the caption read alongside the footage from the event. “The support was amazing, you’ve made your fans proud!”

In a report by Hello!, it was revealed that the King has “postponed” to officially give “the authority to grant royal warrants” to William and Kate.

The royal couple had been actively taking on major duties as Charles underwent cancer treatments. The honour to grant “royal seal of approval” to brands would have marked a big milestone for the Waleses as this honour is reserved for the monarchs.

Although, in William’s appearance, the royal appeared in high spirits, seemingly unfazed by the new blow.

It is still unclear why the decision has been made to postpone the matter; however, it is anticipated that William and Kate would have to “wait for years” to receive the honour.
