Mark Hoppus reunites friendship with Blink-182 after long hiatus
Mark Hoppus’ cancer battle helped rekindle friendship with Blink-182
Mark Hoppus, bassist and vocalist of Blink-182, has recently shared that his battle with cancer helped mend broken relationships within the band, making their bond stronger than ever before.
The 53-year-old vocalist, bassist was hit with a non-Hodgkin lymphoma diagnosis back in June 2021. After intense treatment, he’s now cancer-free and ready to move forward with a new lease on life.
Mark also admitted that if he hadn’t made the announcement, his friendship with Tom - who he hadn’t talked to in years - might never have healed.
The musician shared with Daily Star newspaper: "It healed broken friendships and broken relationships. It healed my broken friendship with Tom.
"So much good came out of people finding out that I was not doing so well, that it really helped me a lot and it fortified me. There were stretches of years where Tom and I wouldn't talk at all. We wouldn't talk on the phone, we wouldn't text, there'd be no communication for years at a time.
"But then tragedies happened - Travis' plane crash or my sickness - and then Tom calls up and is like, 'How are you?' All the bad blood and the grief and the animosity, hard feelings just melt away, and it's friends and brothers," he added.
After Mark's announcement, the band reunited for the first time since their split in 2005 and dropped a new album called One More Time.
