‘The Rookie’ welcomes back fan favourite character in season 7
'The Rookie' showrunner Alexi Hawley excites fans with a new update about casting
The Rookie fan favourite character is gearing up to report back to the Mid-Wilshire Division of the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD), making fans excited for the new episodes.
As the long-running procedural drama nears its summer hiatus, showrunner Alexi Hawley decided to treat fans by bringing back a familiar face: Flula Borg, reprising his quirky role as Randy Resort.
The actor, who was first seen in The Rookie assisting officers Nolan and Harper on a case in Season 4, Episode 14 (Long Shot), will join the cast in season 7, episode 17.
Hawley teased the upcoming episode, describing it as a "really fun storyline."
Borg has played Randy in five episodes overall, making his first appearance in The Rookie season 4 and last in season 6.
In addition, Hawley also offered some reassurance in a recent interview when asked if upcoming contract talks with The Rookie cast might affect the show’s current storylines.
"We’re all good here," the showrunner, who also created the series and serves as executive producer, told TVLine.
For the unversed, The Rookie was one of five shows recently renewed by ABC, joining longtime fan favourites including Grey’s Anatomy and 9-1-1.
