Brandon Sklenar shares why he changed his surname
'It Ends With Us' actor reveals real reason behind changing his last name
Brandon Sklenar has recently spilled the tea about his surname.
The It Ends With Us actor was reportedly born Brandon Feakins but after coming to Hollywood, he changed it to Brandon Sklenar.
The 1923 actor mentioned his father’s name is Bruce Feakins, who worked in construction, and his mom, former hairdresser, Francine adopted Sklenar, which he has been using professionally.
While responding to a question about making the surname switch, Brandon told PEOPLE, “No one has ever asked me that.”
“I took it because growing up, everyone would always mispronounce my last name. And it drove me absolutely crazy,” stated the 34-year-old.
Brandon pointed out, “I also didn't want to pick something completely arbitrary that meant nothing.”
“So, I took my mother's maiden name because it was real,” said the actor.
When asked about his mispronouncing Sklenar, Brandon confessed, “They do. But I could deal with that because I didn't grow up with it being mispronounced.”
“It was like an adult thing… And now the more people are getting to know who I am, it's happening less and less,” continued the actor.
However, Brandon added, “I just couldn't live with the other one being mispronounced in a public forum, because I would lose my mind because I just grew up with it constantly.”
Meanwhile, the actor can be seen in Drop which will release in theaters April 11.
