King Charles III, who's still battling cancer, moved fans to tears with his emotional statement about life as he planted a tree in Italy on the final day of his trip.
The 76-year-old said he hoped to "live long enough" to see the growth of the tree he planted in Italy. It comes as the King and Queen Camilla are abroad for an official trip that overlapped with their 20th wedding anniversary.
The monarch, in a hilarious way, expressed his desire and feelings after planting an oak tree at Villa Wolkonsky in Rome on April 10.
Waving his shovel after the job was done, the King said, "Well I do hope that I shall live long enough to see a little bit of growth in the tree," according to the Daily Mail.
The monarch's words left fans in tears, with some praying for his long life.
Prince William and Harry's dad made the comment to members of the embassy as he continues to undergo treatment for cancer.
Buckingham Palace announced in February 2024 that the King was diagnosed with cancer following treatment for a benign enlarged prostate in January and began treatment. A spokesman clarified he does not have prostate cancer.
The King's exact diagnosis remains undisclosed and aides signaled in December 2024 that his treatment would continue into the new year.
The couple planted the tree as a commemorative gesture for the British ambassador's residence where he and Queen Camilla have been staying abroad.
