Kim Kardashian exposes truth behind engagement ring disaster
'The Kardashians' star Kim Kardashian gets real about her engagement with Kris Humphries
Kim Kardashian, beauty mogul and reality star who runs her own brand, is now setting the record straight on her famous engagement to ex-NBA player Kris Humphries.
During a recent episode of their family show The Kardashians, Kim shared that, despite paying for most of her £1.5 million engagement ring, she still had to give it back to Kris as part of their divorce settlement.
The former couple exchanged "I do" back in 2011 in a lavish wedding event that played out on Keeping Up with the Kardashians. But just 72 days later, their fairytale turned into a whirlwind of headlines and doubts that if their love was the real deal or just a public stunt.
And now, years down the road, the fashion icon is peeling back the curtain on what really led to their split.
While catching up with her sister Khloé Kardashian on the Hulu series, Kim got real about the tricky financial deal behind her stunning 18-carat emerald-cut diamond engagement ring.
"He only paid for about a fifth of it," Kim shared.
While revealing more details about the ring, she explained that even after paying covering the majority of the cost, Kris demanded the ring back.
"In order to get divorced, he said I had to give him the ring."
However, after settling the divorce, Kris sold the ring at auction, raking in a staggering $749,000.
