Disney tries to contain 'Snow White' backlash amid boycott threats
Disney responds to 'Snow White' backlash surrounding Rachel Zegler and Gal Gadot
Disney is responding to Snow White backlash surrounding its stars Rachel Zegler and Gal Gadot.
According to Variety, the American multinational mass media and entertainment conglomerate is adamant to step up and react to controversy and setbacks related to the film.
The film would not be receiving the same red carpet treatment as other similar projects as per the sources.
This follows criticism that the plot has undergone major changes, compromising the original film's essence.
Rachel previously opened up to Extra TV back in 2022 about the changes in the animated film.
She said at the time, “The original cartoon came out in 1937, and very evidently so. There's a big focus on her love story with a guy who literally stalks her. Weird. So we didn't do that this time.
“We have a different approach to what I'm sure a lot of people will assume is a love story just because we cast a guy in the movie.
“All of Andrew's scenes could get cut, who knows? It's Hollywood, baby!'”
Zegler's outspoken views have sparked a backlash, with some critics vowing to boycott the film as a whole.
