Britney Spears sabotages production of biopic: reports
Britney Spears biopic, which is to be produced by Universal Studios, faces uncertainty
Britney Spears doesn’t seem so sure about a biopic.
The upcoming Britney Spears biopic is reportedly facing uncertainty, with the pop star herself playing a key role in the delays.
Following an intense bidding war, Universal Studios secured the rights to produce the film, with Wicked director Jon M. Chu set to helm the project after completing the second installment of the musical adaptation.
However, according to The Sun, Spears' involvement in shaping the story has led to ongoing changes that have made it difficult for the film to move forward.
An insider revealed that while the biopic remains in the "early stages of development," Spears has been "changing her mind like the wind" when it comes to outlining the direction of the film.
Various concepts have been proposed, but just as progress seems to be made, "Britney will take it in another [direction]," the source claimed.
Cade Hudson, Spears' current manager, is serving as an executive producer on the project and has reportedly been working to facilitate communication between the singer and the creative team.
However, the source added that the film feels like an "ever-changing project at the moment with no clear direction."
Chu provided an update on the biopic last month at the Golden Globe Awards, sharing his admiration for Spears and his commitment to telling her story properly.
"I’m a big fan of Britney. I’ve been a fan since I was young and she was young and she was one of 12 acts at the Shrine Auditorium," he told Billboard. "So I want to do her justice and tell her story right."
He also emphasized the importance of handling the project with care.
"We’re developing it now and it’s a long road ahead," Chu said, indicating that the film is still in its early planning stages and will not be rushed into production.
