Armie Hammer addresses cannibalism, admits infidelity, more on 'Louis Theroux'
Armie Hammer is attempting to break free from the Hollywood blacklist after several women accused him in 2021
From cannibalism to assault, Armie Hammer sat down with BBC broadcaster Louis Theroux to speak out about the scandals that derailed his career.
As he attempts to break free from Hollywood’s blacklist four years after the wave of allegations against him, the Call me By Your Name star, 38, made several bombshell revelations on the February 11 episode of The Louis Theroux Podcast.
The Social Network actor admitted to cheating on his ex-wife Elizabeth Chambers but dismissed the more extreme allegations against him.
“I got married when I was 23, 24 years old, very young, and didn’t even have a firm sense or understanding of myself,” he reflected.
However, it was the claims of sexual abuse and cannibalism that truly tanked his career in 2021. Hammer was accused by several women in 2021 of sending them text messages which detailed violent fantasies and references to eating human flesh.
When Theroux directly asked if he was a cannibal, Hammer quipped, “You know what you have to do to actually be a cannibal? You have to actually eat human flesh. So no.” He also claimed that the leaked texts were "digitally altered."
While Hammer insists he’s trying to move forward, he admitted he wasn’t happy with how Theroux started their conversation with the allegations. He briefly hit back at the journalist, saying, “I’m not keen on drudging all that stuff up because for me, a lot of these issues have been resolved, either legally or within myself…”
Theroux noted that “the jury was still out” on some of the accusations, Hammer responded, “Pick anything the public court has an opinion on, and there’s a very good chance they won’t be informed and there’s also a very good chance that they’re probably wrong,” he replied.
