Selena Gomez breaks silence on ‘Emilia Pérez’ backlash

American actress and singer Selena Gomez recently opened up about the controversy surrounding her hit film Emilia Pérez.
Speaking at the Santa Barbara Film festival, the Only Murders in the Building star said that, "Some of the magic has disappeared. But I choose to continue to be proud of what I’ve done and I’m just grateful."
Regarding the recent backlash, surrounding the film after past tweets from its lead, Karla Sofía Gascón, Gomez responded as saying: "I live with no regrets, and I would do this movie over and over again if I could."
The Wizards of Waverly Place actress was also the subject of Gascón’s tweet where the Spanish actress seemingly called her a "rich rat." However, she denied saying anything regarding her co-star on CNN en Español.
The Calm Down crooner expressed her gratitude to the director Jacques Audiard for trusting her with role and was delighted to getting a chance to "how people that I am capable of doing more."
The movie, Emilia Pérez is the only non-English Oscar nominated film with 13 nods. However, Selena Gomez, who haven’t received any Oscar nominations have secured BAFTA and Golden Globe nods.
