Jay-Z’s sexual assault case sees new twist: Deets inside
Jay-Z’s legal team takes major step against Tony Buzbee, a lawyer representing Jane Doe
Jay-Z has recently filed a legal request amid sexual assault allegations against the rapper
Jay-Z’s legal team, led by attorney Alex Spiro, urged the court to sanction Tony Buzbee, the attorney who is representing an Alabama woman who accuses the rap superstar of sexually assaulting her more than 24 years ago.
The rapper’s lawyers claimed that Tony didn’t personally meet with the woman prior to filing complaint against Jay-Z, according to the legal documents obtained by TMZ on January 29.
Tony is representing the woman (who identifies herself as Jane Doe in court documents) and she accused Jay-Z and Sean 'Diddy' Combs for sexually assaulting her when she was 13.
She alleged that the incident took place at an MTV Music Awards afterparty in September of 2000.
In response, Tony Buzbee told Dailymail.com that what “Alex has filed, like everything else he has filed thus far, is utterly frivolous and meritless”.
He further said that with “every frantic filing the defense in this case grows more desperate”.
Tony believed that the “rules apply equally to everyone, even those who wrongly think they are above the law. No one is above the law”.
Meanwhile, Shawn’s attorneys noted that Tony, whose firm is in charge of more than 150 people suing Sean, never vet the woman accusing Jay-Z ahead of a December interview.
However, Sean’ lawyers reportedly dismissed Tony’s lawsuits as “shameless publicity stunts, designed to extract payments from celebrities who fear having lies spread about them, just as lies have been spread about Sean”.
