Ariana Grande got candid about filming Wicked: For Good and performing a brand-new Glinda song in the movie.
In a conversation with Variety’s Award Circuit Podcast, Grande shared her experience filming the upcoming sequel.
“Shooting For Good was unlike anything I’ve ever experienced,” Grande shared. “It was such a long and emotional process. I kind of left my body. We filmed it over the course of a week, and it stayed with me. I haven’t even seen the final cut yet because I’m not sure I’m ready to feel all of it again.”
The sequel, apart from exploring deeper into the lives of Glinda and Elphaba, offers a new song for Glinda, written by composer Stephen Schwartz.
According to Grande the song explores “a pivotal moment in Glinda’s journey” showcasing a side of her character that fans have never seen before.
“In the stage show, this transformation happens offstage,” she said, further adding, “But in the movie, we get to see her make the decision that defines who she is.”
Expressing her gratitude for the opportunity, she said, “It’s a privilege to sing this song and be the first Glinda to bring it to life.”
Alongside this song, the movie will also feature a duet of Glinda and Elphaba.
Wicked serves as a prequel of the classic The Wizard of Oz, which explores the origins of Elphaba, the Wicked witch of West ( played by Cynthia Erivo), and Glinda, the Good Witch (played by Grande).
The sequel, Wicked: For Good, is slated for release on November 21, 2025.
