MrBeast popped the question to girlfriend, Thea Booysen said yes!
MrBeast got engaged to girlfriend, Thea Booysen after two years of dating
MrBeast “did a thing”.
YouTube sensation MrBeast, whose real name is Jimmy Donaldson, kicked off 2025 with a major life milestone: he’s officially engaged.
The 26-year-old content creator proposed to girlfriend Thea Booysen on Christmas Day, sharing the joyful news on Instagram on January 1 with a caption that read, “Ya boy did a thing.”
The announcement included a series of sweet photos from the special day, where the couple donned matching MrBeast-branded Christmas sweaters and celebrated with loved ones by a festive Christmas tree.
Booysen also posted a heartfelt video showcasing her new ring as she sat on MrBeast’s lap, their dog joining in on the celebration.
Booysen, who hails from South Africa, shared the behind-the-scenes moment with People.
“My family flew out from South Africa for Christmas, and we were going to do Christmas in our house so both families were here. We were opening presents, and then for the very last present, he asked me to close my eyes because it was a surprise.”
MrBeast added a touch of humor and suspense to the proposal.
“I intentionally dropped a large box to make noise before presenting the real gift — with the ring inside — to her. And then I went down on a knee and proposed,” he said.
The gesture was carefully planned to ensure Booysen’s family could be part of the moment.
“Thea is really close to her family, so I wanted to make sure that they were included in this momentous occasion. Christmas worked out great because they were in town from the other side of the world,” MrBeast explained.
The couple first met in 2022 during MrBeast’s trip to South Africa, where they bonded over dinner conversations about science and YouTube. Their relationship took off when MrBeast later sent Booysen a message asking to read her book.
Reflecting on their connection, Booysen said, “I fell in love with his brain. To me [that’s] everything — your brain, your drive, your discipline, your character, that’s everything to me.”
Although MrBeast is one of the most-followed creators in the world, he expressed a desire for an intimate wedding.
“I don’t take much vacation because of how hard I work, so I definitely want to make sure that the wedding will be a time to celebrate with her and spend time with friends and family who we really enjoy being with. It will be the ultimate way to take some time away and enjoy things,” he shared.
