V from BTS added another feather to his cap with a record-breaking success.
It has been reported that V, whose real name is Kim Taehyung, has dethroned Mariah Carey from the top spot of the Billboard chart for Christmas songs with Winter Ahead, his jazz-pop duet with Park Hyo Shin.
This feat marked a major milestone in his solo career as the 28-year-old K-pop sensation became the first-ever South Korean soloist to beat out the famous Queen of Christmas.
According to Luminate, Winter Ahead pushed Carey’s iconic All I Want For Christmas Is You down to second place on the Holiday Digital Song Sales chart, selling over 10,300 copies. In comparison, Carey’s Christmas classic sold 3,200 copies in the U.S.
It is pertinent to note that the 55-year-old songstress made history by being the first artist to have her festive song dominate the Billboard chart for four decades since its release.
Winter Ahead has been making waves since the BTS star released its teaser video before dropping the song on November 29.
The highly anticipated music video was unveiled on November 30.
