Matty Healy responds to Azealia Banks harsh comments about Charli XCX
Matty Healy jumps to friend Charli XCX’s support against Azealia Banks
Matty Healy stepped up to show his support for pal Charli XCX after rapper Azealia Banks made some harsh remarks about the Brat singer.
The 1975 frontman took to X, formerly Twitter on Tuesday, December 3rd, and wrote, “Azealia you seem to have a blind spot when it comes to your ‘reads’. All the women you attack seem to be culturally relevant, attractive, divisive and NICE people.”
“I think this makes you jealous cos you’re so talented but everything else about you is a failure. Just rap bro,” Healy continued.
This scathing response from the indie popstar comes after Banks wrote a tweet criticising the 360 singer’s changed looks since her breakthrough in 2014.
“Charli used to be soooo pretty. Ugh,” the rapper wrote as she shared a clip of Charli XCX’s Break the Rules music video on Tuesday.
“Boaaa, I swear them Weho gays be having the girls questioning themselves meanwhile they all scraping k off a cookie sheet, eating cold bossanova and sharing panties. Tuh.”
The About You singer was joined by several fans as they slammed the rapper for her remarks.
“She still is very very pretty, Miss Banks. So do you,” one user penned while another replied, “Yeah she used to be pretty but she is even more gorgeous now.”
Healy and Charli XCX have gotten close over the years and earlier this year the 32-year-old songstress revealed that she sees Healy as a “brother now.”
They are also connected because of George Daniel, who is the drummer for Healy’s band and also Charli XCX’s fiancé. The couple got engaged last year after an year of dating.
