Kate Middleton, Prince William make unexpected decision for children
Princess Catherine and William decide to take big step for their children
Kate Middleton and Prince William have decided to abandon Christmas plans for sake of their three children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, Prince Luis in an unexpected move.
The Prince and Princess of Wales want their three children to grow up as 'normal' as possible, and this is reflected in the couple's Christmas plan.
The royal couple may join King Charles and Queen Camilla and other members of the royal family at Sandringham Estate for their usual festive traditions, with the exchange of gifts, attending church.
But there's one activity Princess Catherine and William are keen to abandon for their children.
The royal family exchange gifts on Christmas Eve, a tradition dating back to Queen Victoria's time. Queen Elizabeth II relished this practice with a reflection of her Christian faith, preferring to keep Christmas Day itself for spiritual reflection rather than gift-giving.
However, a royal expert has claimed that Kate and William could completely remove this Christmas tradition, as they would prefer to celebrate in a "more normal way."
Former BBC royal correspondent Jennie Bond said: "I don't think they worry particularly about how they’re perceived at Christmas but I do think that Catherine and William want to do things in a more normal way."
Jennie, sharing a closer insight, told OK!: "I suspect that when they are King and Queen a lot of traditions will change – and the exchange of presents on Christmas Eve may well be one of them."
The expert went on explaining the reason why the change is expected, saying: "I think this whole new generation of royal youngsters are having a different experience of royal life."
Kate, who's all excited for her carol concert this week, has extended an invitation to the child survivors of the Southport stabbing incident to join her at Westminster Abbey.
