Hugh Grant reveals hilarious advice from 'fluffy' director
Hugh Grant lauds director Richard Curtis for 'hilarious' advice
Hugh Grant is reflecting on the hilarious advice he received from Love Actually director Richard Curtis.
The 64-year-old actor, who presented Curtis with the Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award at the 15th Governors Awards in Los Angeles, reminisced about his career journey with the filmmaker.
During the ceremony on Sunday, November 17, Grant fondly recalled humorous moments with Four Weddings and a Funeral director as he jokingly added, "You would think, given that most of his films were about love, that he would have been or had a directorial style of gentle, soft, and fluffy. You would have been quite wrong.
"Forever etched on my heart are some of the notes he gave me including, 'And now do do a funny one,' and 'Don't worry, we can cut around you.'"
The 68-year-old was honoured for his tremendous work in the industry alongside producers Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli, who bagged the Irving G. Thalberg Memorial Award.
On professional front, Grant has teamed up with Curtis on various romantic comedies, including Four Weddings and a Funeral (1994), Bridget Jones's Diary (2001) and Love Actually.
