Shaun White’s ‘friends knew’ about Nina Dobrev proposal, ‘it was coming’
Shaun White, Nina Dobrev, who met in 2019, announced engagement on Wednesday, Oct. 30
Shaun White seemed to have planned his bombshell proposal and engagement to Nina Dobrev for some time now, and his “friends” knew.
The 38-year-old Olympic snowboarder and the 35-year-old Vampire Diaries alum shared the happy news of their engagement on Instagram on Wednesday, Oct. 30.
White proposed under a beautiful white floral arch surrounded by candles, creating a romantic setting for the occasion.
A source shared with People that White had been planning “the proposal for months”, discussing it with his “close circle” before popping the question.
“Their friends knew it was coming, and everyone is so happy for them,” the insider added. “After the proposal, they were calling and texting friends saying, 'It can't get better than this' and were just glowing.”
The insider also shared expectations from Dobrev and White’s upcoming wedding, calling it “a blowout party.”
“They are the perfect fit together, fun and adventurous, but also very grounding for each other,” the source told the outlet.
White proposed to Nina Dobrev with a stunning 5-carat Lorraine Schwartz ring at The Golden Swan restaurant in New York City, as reported by Vogue.
To keep it a surprise, he arranged for his publicist to send Dobrev a pretend invitation to a CFDA and Vogue dinner with Editor-in-Chief Anna Wintour.
Following her “yes,” friends joined the newly engaged pair for a celebration with champagne and caviar. Later, Dobrev and White rounded off the memorable night by ordering Shake Shack and dumplings to enjoy at the restaurant.
