Bruce Springsteen reveals 'Letter to You' comes to life after personal loss
Bruce Springsteen reveals he hasn't written any new music in two years
Bruce Springsteen revealed his recent album, Letter to You, was deeply influenced by personal loss.
According to Entertainment Weekly, during a recent Q&A session at the Los Angeles premiere of his new documentary, Road Diary: Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band, the Born to Run hitmaker shared how the 2020 album came to life.
He explained that the album emerged in a burst of emotional creativity following the death of his childhood friend, George Theiss.
The Blinded by the Light crooner shared he spent several days at Theiss's bedside when he realised he was the last surviving member of his first band, the Castiles.
"I came back from George's, and he filled me with something," he recounted. "I think all of Letter to You was written in about two weeks and recorded in four days."
During the event earlier this week, the enduring rock star also revealed that he hasn’t been writing new songs for the past two years.
"Songs don't come that often" he noted and further added that he has "gone two years without writing anything."
It seems that after his last album Only the Strong Survive following Letter to You, Springsteen, 75, hasn’t felt the urge or inspiration to create something he believes would be worthy of expressing his feelings.
