Julianna Margulies exits 'The Morning Show’ ahead of season 4
Julianna Margulies played the role of Reese Witherspoon's love interest in 'The Morning Show'
Julianna Margulies will not continue her acting stint on The Morning Show.
Variety confirmed on Monday, June 10, that the 58-year-old actress will neither return for season four nor be interested in a potential fifth season.
Margulies joined The Morning Show as Laura Peterson, a seasoned journalist who developed a romantic relationship with Bradley Jackson, played by Reese Witherspoon.
The two characters break up early in Season 3, though Laura's story continues to chronicle through the remaining episodes.
After the season three finale aired before a podcast, showrunner Charlotte Stoudt expressed interest in further exploring Margulies’ character in season four, though she noted that her ideas were still preliminary.
"We’re very, very, very early in the room, but I think I’d want to explore [Laura] more," Stoudt said.
"Her dimensionality. Not just, ‘I’m Laura and I love Bradley, and she occasionally drives me crazy!’ I think there’s more to Laura than that," she added.
Margulies will soon appear on Broadway opposite Peter Gallagher in Left on Tenth, an autobiographical play by Delia Ephron, co-writer of You’ve Got Mail.
The actress is also slated to star in Edward Burns’ upcoming Millers in Marriage.
