Meghan Markle is said to be laying the groundwork to make her way to the White House as next president of the United States.
The Duchess of Sussex’s recent string of activism and trips prompted speculations about a career transition inspired by her own critic Donald Trump.
Speaking to the MailOnline, US politics expert Christopher Phelps reflected on the prospect of the Suits alum putting her diplomacy skills to use in the political arena.
“'It would be a great story,” he said.
“Her name will open doors but you can't just say "You all know who I am - vote for me" - she will need to have some substance on policy,” the eminent historian explained. “Americans want to know how she would protect their jobs, where she stand of tax and to tackle crime in their neighbourhoods.’”
Professor Phelps, alongside other insiders, laid bare the path Meghan is potentially following in her aim to seize the prize.
This includes increased activism as evident from her visit to Uvalde following shooting incident in 2022, advocating for community groups and charities, and undertaking quasi-royal tours akin to her latest in Nigeria.
The duchess has also been tipped to ramp up her support to Invictus Games to gain military favour, increase public profile in the country, start raising funds for a potential election campaign, secure endorsement by party grandee, and more.
