Selena Gomez spills why she did not attend 2024 Met Gala

Selena Gomez has recently shared major reason for not attending this year's Met Gala.

A source spilled to PEOPLE, the singer and actress could not attend the event because "she was busy working".

The source revealed that Selena is currently busy filming Only Murders in the Building's fourth season and even expanding her Rare Beauty empire during May 6's event.

Not only Selena, other stars like Katy Perry, Rihanna and Taylor Swift were absent from the event.

The outlet reported that Rihanna had to skip after falling ill whereas Katy and Taylor were occupied with work.

Earlier in 2014, Selena attended the event in a mermaid-style gown by Diane von Furstenberg. She paired it with floor-length evening dress with an icy eye look, deep plum lipstick and dangling silver earrings.

Interestingly, in 2015, the Wizards of Waverly Place star wore a custom ivory gown by Vera Wang and matching flower headpiece.

While speaking to Vogue, Selena opened up about her tan complexion in 2021's event.

The singer and actress revealed, "It was the product of too much tanning lotion."

"I am completely orange," she remarked.

Selena added, "I was like, 'This is going to be terrible because I'm going to get eaten alive about this.'"
