The mega event, the first of its kind in the world, is organized jointly by Jaipur International Film Festival Trust and Jaipur International Film Festival (JIFF) at the prestigious Golecha Cinema daily from May 15 to 22.
A total of 975 films were submitted from 60 countries for the festivals, of which 65 movies were selected for screening. The selected films include seven feature films, five documentary feature films, nine documentary short films, 28 short fiction films, two animation feature films, seven short animation films and seven commercial films. 22 films are from India while 43 are foreign productions.
Each festival will be dedicated to a specific subject such as 'Development', 'Democracy', 'Human Rights', 'Women Issues', 'Arts and Culture', 'Children', 'Politics' and 'Corruption' in addition to animation and horror films.
Discussion sessions will follow the screening of each film.
Founder of the JIFF and 16IFF Hanu Roj said the main objective of the simultaneous film festivals is to create awareness about the issues raised in the selected films. Discussion sessions have been designed to take into account the intellectual needs of filmgoers in all age groups.
